FuzzDad has released his first Source project dod_anvil-B12
It is a remake of one of his earlier works and SunLit's favourites, dod_falaise
FuzzDad reminds everyone that it is only a beta but it will knock your socks off. :)
He welcomes reports of any bugs and is eagerly anticipating the release of the full sdk so that he can polish up his map.
Well done FuzzDad and thanks!
Update: Download the minimap here. Extract to the day of defeat source directory

NOL and GIMP faced off for the final match in the SLDL on Solitude.
Round 1
GIMP 259 - NOL 92
Round 2
GIMP 271 - NOL 84
TOTAL
GIMP 520 - NOL 176
Congratulations to GIMP for the win !
The sixth season of the SLDL was a definite success.
There were some great games, near ties and upsets. Beyond the stats of win or lose, we all had the opportunity to meet new teams and gain some respect for eachother's, styles of play and individuals' achievements.
SunLits is up for a seventh SLDL season. The big question is whether to go DOD or DODS, or both in two seperate conferences. We need your input. Please discuss in the forums.

You can download a zip file containing null.mp3 replacements for the victory music
Extract the sound_win.zip to the route dod directory so it looks like this.
C:\ProgramFiles\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\youremail\dayofdefeat source\dod\sound\ambient\*.mp3
**Please note that this is fine for pubs but may not be legal for League play**
Check with their rules if you are competing. Easy enough to simply rename the sound directory before a league match at this point. The custom maps havent added any map specific sounds.

The custom DODS maps definitely give me an appreciation of the steps mappers have to take to make a great map.
Layout, textures, playability, frame rates, spawn protection and making them all work together is the goal.
Here are four new maps to try out. They aren't polished but are a break from the stock four.
dod_alterna and dod_lerouge are both small maps that provide some intense fire fights.
dod_battlecreek is inspired by Halo2. Small and frantic with a two man cap in the middle.
dod_snow_battlefield_final is one HUGE map. The mapper has added sandbags and hedghogs to provide cover but its still an rifleman's map.

There are no shortage of new maps popping up. Some show great potential while others are obviously still works in progress. The maps' lack of HDR support is actually a bonus as the maps yield high fps. SunLit will be running new maps on Futurama and adding them to the map cycle dependant on their playablilty and popularity. They will download from in game.
dod_hkksblitzkriegb1_d is a medium sized map an interesting layout. There are building interiors for cover, a bottleneck and
scalable walls. There is no black texture drop out but some of the reflective floor surfaces are rainbow hued. Its not your vid card ;). The Fps dips in the middle but its definitely playable.
dod_chyard7 is in its seventh incarnation and looks worth the effort. :) Its a small map with a church tower for the snipers, first and second floor building interiors and straight aways for some intense run and gunning.

As if DOD:S weren't enough excitement , the SLDL is generating its own.
Last week's Semi Finals saw two brutal matches:
[GIMP] 1124 - [DOJ] 107
~*NOL*~ 766 - |>LN<| 243
The Final round will be played:
[GIMP] vs ~*NOL*~
Thursday Oct 20, 9pm est on dod_solitude_b2

We have uploaded a CSS based map, dod_dust to Futurama
Its layout is much the same as it predecessor for DOD. There are only 4 flags, the fifth in the underpass has been removed.
dod_dust renders 90 - 100 fps in lan (HDR disabled).
The main caveat is that there is no spawn protection. If players can use a little common sense and sportsmanship and stay out of the opponent's spawn areas, the map will remain in rotation.
You will need to download and install it before hand. If you don't , you will be crazed by purple and pink checkerboards. ;)
**update**
Correct and all files will now autodownload from the server . It takes about 8min as its 75 MB

The servers were spiking to 800 ping last night and were very choppy this morning.
They crashed again this afternoon
Have submitted 3 requests for manual reboot and am keeping an eye out to see if they do. If the dedicated server stays up for a couple of minutes, I'll disable all plugins and see if we can keep 1 DODS server on line.
So sorry for the inconvenience folks. :(
***UPDATE*** 11/09/05
Servers came back on line sometime after midnight. Lets see how 1 DODS server runs.

dod_narbeth_b1 has been added to the map cycle.
Its atmospheric and interesting given the still limited map resources the mappers have to contend with.
Castle_b5 has been removed from the servers. Omaha seems to have as many players who love as hate it. It is removed from the mapcycle but can be voted in.

Our game server keeps crashing. We're working to resolve it.
UPDATE Sun 10/9/05 9:33am CST
We're not sure what the heck is going on. We've had some kind of network trouble with the server recently, yesterday it seems to have gotten very severe. Not only do the game servers disappear, but we can't log in remotely to administer the server. Rebooting several times only brought the servers up very briefly before they went down again.
The reason we haven't been able to resolve any of this or even get an answer as to what is going on is because our service provider, FrontLine Game Servers is not responding to e-mails, calls to their toll-free number get a "this number has been disconnected" recording, no response from messages left in the owner's cell phone, and likewise for messages left in their mIRC channel and in MSN.
When we've had similar problems with FrontLine in the past, we have not aired them publicly so as not to needlessly tarnish their reputation while I was still trying to work with them.
It's now been 24 hours, and still no response and the server is still down. We are now looking elsewhere for service.
SunLit has not gone off the air, we will have another server as soon as we can find a good provider at a reasonable price and get it properly outfitted. We'll post here as any news develops. Thanks for your patience.

Good news on the TK Plugin.
Apparently, the tk count isnt registered if a player is simply not forgiven ( Exit).
They must be punished for the count to accumulate and engage the auto kick after 5 tks.
Ive tried enabling "slap" as a punishment and set it to 1 damage point. But it doesn't show in the menu. So enabled "Blind" at 1/255 intensity. Almost no effect but will count towards the 5 tks. Lets see how it goes today.

We've uploaded 2 new DODS maps to the servers.
dod_omaha_v1 is a beach map on par with the size of dod_charlie. It has 4 flags to capture including two 2man and one 3man cap.
Its dark and textures and objects are basic , rendering 100 fps in lan. There is no minimap available.
dod_castle_b5 has four 1 man caps in a N.S.E.W. pattern. The layout is multi level and reminiscent of DocRocks HL2DM maps,
Termination and SnowBlind. Fps clock in at 100 in lan.
The maps will autodownload from the servers. Post your comments in the Map Forums

We have reshuffled the server names to accomodate Day of Defeat Source.
SunLit Futurama is again our flagship custom map server. It is now converted to DoD:Source. We're working on custom maps for it now (there are only a small number as of yet, and they're of questionable quality).
SunLit Annex is DoD:Source as well. It will tend to have a mapcycle geared more towards standard maps, league maps (once the leagues, including SLDL, go Source), and a limited number of other custom maps.
SunLit Boneyard is now our only DoD 1.x server. It will continue to carry custom maps for DoD 1.x as long as there's an interest.
The IP address for all the servers can be found by clicking on the pic for each server in the Now Playing bar at right.

We've just finished a new theme for the website. The old one was OK, although not that fancy. Then it broke when we upgraded the site to PostNuke .761. This gave us a good excuse to redesign the whole theme from the ground up.
It's now up and active. Condsider it a beta, though :) There are probably a few mistakes we've overlooked. Stick a comment on this article if you find anything obviously messed up.
Hope you enjoy it. It's meant to be easy to read -- especially for those of us who spend hours each day looking at it -- and also consistent and polished looking.
Many thanks to Drek for his excellent advice on getting the forum theme to match (your e-mails and forum posts from previously were most helpful). Also, thanks to Bone for his help on color-matching.
Let us know what you think!

Two new developments on the website.
First, the comments on the articles are working again. They were broken by the recent upgrade to PostNuke .761. Reloading the module fixed it.
Second, we have a completely new feature - Click to Join. In the Now Playing block on the right-hand side of the home page, you can still click the thumbnail pic to see the server status. However, you'll also notice a Click to Join button under the map thumbnail pic both in the Now Playing box, and on the individual server status page. Click it, and steam will automatically load, the particular game will load, and you will be connected to the appropriate server.
Enjoy.

The most recent patch of the Mani Admin Plugin 1.1.0.zc has been installed on the DODS and HL2DM servers.
The most basic of tk options are enabled along with map voting and of course admin options for kick and ban.
I will be tweaking it further but am trying to switch gears back to tonight's SLDL match :).

The links to the individual server status pages from the Now Playing bar at right are now working again.
Laz fixed them for us after I broke them when upgrading to PostNuke .760.
Thanks Laz!

All the teams have completed week 7 Diversion and the Scores and Standings have been tabulated.
The final week of the regular season on Tact_v5 is scheduled for September 29.
There is a Source update in the pipes from Steam but this should have no effect on
the DOD engine.

You might have missed last night but the web site was down.
Laz and John rolled up their sleeves and had at it to the wee hours.
SunLits own super heroes :D
They found some "hacks", removed them and updated the version of postnuke.
No data was lost and the forums are intact.
Vent is still working and the Chatbox plugin functions with the newer version of postnuke.
Some polishing and tweaking is still to come but they are coming.
Some of the blocks are disabled. Esthetics of the site arent all there yet, borders, backgrounds etc and you may see some funky "error" code
at the top or bottom on the forum pages. Mailing lists are disabled until security is tested.
But hey, SunLits is still here.
Many many thanks to Lazarus and PvtJohn for interceding in what was an imminent shutdown.
