L4D Update Next Week Posted By RosietheRiveter -
The lads must have been rejuvenated in Cabo because the DLC and Survival Pack are on time for a release next week

Surviving the L4D Survival Pack
April 16, 2009 - Kerry Davis and Scott Dalton

Survival Mode pits your team against never ending waves of infected. Sounds simple. Just trap the survivors in a small part of a map, unleash the hordes, and record the longest time. Survival Mode, which will be released next week, is actually a bit more than that.

Our goals for Survival Mode are to deliver a mode of play distinct from Campaign or Versus, have games that regularly last under ten minutes, and emphasize competition with team play through leaderboards.

Survival Mode draws on the planning and communication aspects of a successful Finale or Crescendo event, while taking it to another level. It rapidly hits a fever pitch that only a well coordinated team will be able to successfully survive. Everything from simply covering a reviving teammate, to making every shot count to minimize reloads becomes crucial in Survival Mode.

Rates and Net_graph Posted By RosietheRiveter -
Occassionally Valve or Steam updates reset the rate cvars to their default values in the config.cfg file.
Steam sometimes can not read your preferred connection speed and resets the rate cvar.
The default Valve values for rate, cl_cmdrate and cl_updaterate are not used in League Play. Rules 2.3a Client Cvars

Xray Gaming Anitcheat - Final Reminder Posted By RosietheRiveter -
It looks like the admin at XAC support were able to help some of you get those missing screenshots loaded. Good job.

To avoid missing screenshots for tonight's match:

* You must register an account with XAC if you have not already done so. Registration is required for the initial XAC 1.5.411 (03/28/09) download. Once installed, it will auto update. It is compatible with Windows7 and has fixed some Vista lag issues. All players must have XAC installed and running for the match.

* PLEASE start XAC up BEFORE you start up DODS at match time.
You should hear a "ding" as you join DODS. This indicates that the screenshot function is working.

* When the final round is over, exit DODS. Click on Upload on the XAC Menu. Wait until the upload is complete . Then Exit XAC. Your XAC login/log out information and screenshots should appear on the XAC website within 24 hours.

Claremont , Longestday and Colmar_ctf1 Posted By RosietheRiveter -
dod_claremont_b2 Claremont_b2 has been released by MajorCain. Inspired by the movie Kelly's Heroes, this detonation map requires the allies to destroy 2 tiger tanks and use a third to open the bank doors to the gold.

dod_longestday_rc4 Green has relased two maps. The latest version of the Longestday. Nice beach map with improved performance and colmar_ctf1, converting the stock detonation map to a 5 flag classic bridge map.

colmar_ctf1
All three maps playing on the SunLit Custom Map server 69.28.221.146:27015 and can be voted in.

* Download and install the newest version of XAC 1.5 (released 03/23/09)

* Check your XAC profile. If you still have "missing screenshots" you can post in XAC Support and they can help you clean up your profile.

* PLEASE start XAC up BEFORE you start up DODS at match time and then remember to turn it off when you are done.

SLDL 17 Rules Webpage Posted By RosietheRiveter -
Every season has seen updates and expansions to the SLDL rules.
After 16 seasons they were getting scrambled and difficult to navigate.
The SLDL rule's webpage has been cleaned up and presented in a more efficient format.
I hope you find this new layout helpful.

Xray Gaming Anti Cheat - XAC Posted By RosietheRiveter -
The SLDL will be using the Xray Gaming AntiCheat - XAC this season.

Use of XAC is mandatory for all players.

XAC is a client side application that takes screenshots of what you are seeing in-game, and will scan for known cheats and bad processes in the background to help with cheat detection. When you are finished playing your game, X-ray will upload these screenshots to the XAC servers, where an experienced admin team and massive userbase will help catch cheaters. The combination of mandatory demos, screenshots and XAC should keep any shenanigans to a minimum. .

So what do you need to do?
The registration and install process is easy.

Week 2 Map Substitution Posted By RosietheRiveter -
Week 2 - March 22 2009

Ack ! We found a game breaking problem on 415fc this morning. Its a shame because 415fc is a lot of fun.
Even though its only Wednesday I don't want to substitute in a new custom map for you to upload to servers and learn. So Week 2 will fall back to a map that everyone has and knows, dod_anzio.

As requested, dod_ressort_b1, a sewerless Kalt has been has been uploaded to the servers. I like the sewers on Kalt but this version looks good with good performance and will likely be popular with the 6v6 players. If anyone knows the name of the mapper, would you be so kind as to pm it to me?

DBlocker 1.2 - An AntiCheat Program Posted By RosietheRiveter -
**update thurs. 13/03/09**
Just so everyone knows
With the last OB update there are problems with DBlocker and "lagginess". The DBlocker dev team is aware of this and looking at it even as we speak.
Please uninstall it for now.

Three Conferences for The Regular Season Posted By RosietheRiveter -
Preseason is over and the Standings are up.
There is a wide spectrum of skill levels and experience amongst the twenty-four teams. Twenty-four teams allows for the formation of three conferences based on a team's and its players' recent league experience and performance in the SLDL preseason. Eight teams lets the teams have an introductory go at eachother and a second encounter later in the season to exact revenge.

SLDL Preseason 3 Ingot Posted By RosietheRiveter -
Four more teams have asked to sign up
Hacker Down
Moodle
Texas Militia
Fourth Battalion

With only 48 hours to match time, I propose that this week's match on ingot be included in the Preseason as Preseason 3. That will give these teams time to upload and practice and an opportunity to ensure that the conferences are fair.
All scheduled matches are to proceed as planned
24 teams !!! :D

Upper and Lower Conference Assignments Posted By RosietheRiveter -
There are 19 teams registered for the SLDL this season. :)
That certainly allows for two conferences supporting a sufficient variety in opponents.

Teams are to be assigned a conference based on:
* pre-season SLDL 17
* SLDL 16 standings
* CAL 8 standings
* rostered players and CAL steamid search

Conferences and regular season schedules will be posted after receiving all reported scores from last night's matches.
Cheers

TF2 Achievement Servers - Warning Posted By RosietheRiveter -
For those of you you use the achievement servers to unlock the new weapon in TF2:
Looks like there are some server operators who disapprove of farming achievements. They have set up "honeypot" achievement servers to lure players in, then ban then for 30 days AND post their steamids. The steamid list is compatible with steambans and is being shared.
read about plugin here
If SunLit TF2 players are interested in a safe achievement server, let me know and we can set something up temporarily for you.

Shout out to Jimmy Crack Corn who has updated his map for the SLDL.

Maintenance Morning Posted By RosietheRiveter -
Cleaning up the main server hard drive. The drive was cluttered with duplicate and triplicate and unwanted game instances. Now its almost 75% free on the hardrive and set for smoother game play.

The Boneyard (DOD 1.3), Horrors (HL2DM) and Shotgun Madness (HLDM) are still on the drive and can be fired up at a moments notice for when the spirit moves you.

Map and Level Disconnects Posted By RosietheRiveter -
Map and Level Disconnects

We've all experienced it, timeouts and disconnects at map end (DODS , TF2) or in the L4D safe room . Its been theorized that the culprit is the sending of information to the Steam game stats. Nephyrin has released a Source Meta Mod plugin that blocks this process and therefore should stop the disconnects.

The plugin is installed on DODS, TF2, and L4D servers. Please let me know if this fixes the problem for you.

SLDL 17 Start Date Posted By RosietheRiveter -
Registration for the SLDL 17 has been slow with only 5 teams in the Lower and 2 teams in the Upper conferences signed up.

The SLDL 17 Preseason One match is scheduled for a February 2009 start or when there are a minimum of eight teams in a conference.

If you want to load up the likely season 17 maps, the list can be found here. The maps can be downloaded from the main SunLit map library. Just type in the map name in the search field in the upper right corner. The server.cfg is the same as last season.

Source Mod on Apocalypse Posted By RosietheRiveter -
SunLit Apocalypse 69.28.221.148:27015 is off line this morning while I test out an admin mod (source mod) for L4D.
Not adding any game modifications, just the ability to kick or ban outrageous players and to block vote kicking of enforcers.

**Update 02/04/09**
On all 4 L4D servers:
*admin are immune to vote kick
*Versus Mode random team swap is disabled
*Versus Mode spectate on load fix
