Sony has created this MMOFPS game and I gotta say that, even thogh the learning curve seems pretty steep at first, as the game mechanics are not very intuitive, once you figure out the ins and outs of the game, it is quite fun.
When you start to play the game, you choose a server and a race.
There are 3 different races (New Conglomerate, Vanu Sovereignty, Terran Republic) to choose from, that each have their slight advantages and disadvantages with regards to weapons and vehicles.
On each server there are 3 different continents (basically game worlds you can jump between. Each continent is divided into a bunch of small terratories, that can be capped by controlling 1 - 4 control points in the terratory's primary facility for a certain cap period.
Each terratory provides a production bonus to you race, which is used to spawn vehicles (quad bikes, armored transport, light tank, heavy tank, fighter plane, heavy plane and gunship plane) in owned terratories throughout the continent.
Some of the bigger terratories have shield generators that need to be taken out before you can actually get to the cap zone.
You gain experience points throughout the game, that are converted to "cert-points" which can be used to buy upgrades etc.
The game is really optimized for teamplay.
You can create an outfit (basically a big group of friends).
If you are 2 or more playing you can create a squad (up to 12 people), if you are more than 12 a platoon of up to 4 squads can be created.
Squad leaders and platoon leaders use squad waypoints and platoon waypoints and ingame comms to plan attacks and strategies.
If I'm on by myself I usually just join a public squad or platoon.
The sign up process can be a bit tedious if you do it the wrong way.

When starting out, I recommend spawning as Light Assault, as this gives you a jet pack that makes it a lot easier to get around.
