We had the good fortune to play test FuzzDad's final version of dod_anvil . FuzzDad dropped by the server and shared some insights. He has officially released the final version and it will download from the server.
If you were involved in the play test, remember to delete the dod_anvil.bsp from your maps directory and re-download the map today. Thanks for helping out.

Its a small map with 2 single and a 2 man capture points.

CC Nipper has released his final version of dod_hobofire
Main difference is that the "last" flags are now 1 man caps.
Hobofire replaces hobofire_b1 in the servers' map rotations.

Final edit of tiger_source (TOP GUN Mav) is on the servers.
**UPDATE** Feb 2
The sticky spots and axis exploit have been fixed.
Delete your present copy of tiger_source and allow it to download again.

Servers are updated and dod_kalt is in mapcycle and can be voted in.
Futurama will play Kalt (new) , Argentan (SLDL) and Donner today.
Annex will have its regular cycle.

There is some security issue with the mailing lists associated with SunLits.
Emails to rosie, john, sldl, enforcers, I&S, sldladmin and admin are currently unavailable.

Two maps new to SunLits but will be played in the -UPA- Tourney
dod_hkksinfiltration_d is another map by the author of hkksblitzkriegb_d.
dod_nmramelle_b1 is a map reminiscent of schwetz in that axis defends its flags and allies have a set time to cap.
The maps are on the DODS servers and will autodownload.

The polishing really shows in these new releases of dod_smallhill_rc1 and dod_salerno_rc3.
Both maps are added on all DODS servers.

Two new custom maps to try out
dod_gausser996 is a small to medium size map with 5 single man caps.
Classic middle flag on a bridge over very nicely rendered water. FPS are 50+ in preview.
dod_willage_b1 is a deceptively small map with 5 single man caps. FPS is 90+ , that in itself makes it worth a go.
dod_slope_rc2 is back on the mapcycle. Ripster has fixed the purple roads, sticky spots, crater and optimized the fps.
Try it out.

Two new beta mapping efforts for the start of the new year.
dod_pacific_b1 is a map by Cheese Sarnie ( Narbeth). Its a beach map with a twist... 5 flags on an island in the Pacific.
Definitely not the western theatre but it has palm trees and I'm still in cruise mode ;)
dod_passage_b2 is a port of a DOD:G map by Streamline Data.
Instantly recognizable and with 80+fps.
dod_railroadb1 will be play tested on Futurama this evening.
All maps will autodownload from in game.

Updating Servers
Valve has released THE patch for DODS - Highlights:
* Fixed prediction bug where players would get stuck together
* Fixed the 'can't stand up from crouch while on stairs' bug.
* Increased footstep volume
* Optimizations to lag compensation
* Allied Garand is now more accurate (smaller COF)
* Allied 30cal machine gun is now more accurate
* Made the garand sight ring larger when in iron sights.
* Moved Axis k98 rifle iron sight model away from the player slightly.
* View model no longer sways in iron sight mode
* Decreased the recoil on the Allied Garand when in iron sights.

We have added a new version of dod_risk, dod_risk_b9. We have not had a chance to try this out yet, but we are told the map is a little bigger now. If any of you have not tried the earlier version of this map, you are in for a treat. It is one of the more creative map ideas we've seen in a while, and it is executed very well.
The map will auto-download to you in-game, or you can download the map ahead of time from our DODS map download page.

Rolk has released his new version of Arras, dod_arras_v2_b1.
It feels and plays like an entirely different map. Arras_v2 is loaded up on Futurama and Annex. It will autodownload in bzip2 format from the servers and can be voted up.

Furyo has released his updated version of dod_dijon_rc2. He has fixed:
- Flag icons
- HDR reflections
- Church windows clipping
- hospital well prop intersected with brush
- Clipped the fountain park around the corner from the wineshop.
Dijon_rc2 is running on all 3 servers. Merci Furyo >S

Futurama and Annex have two new maps added.
dod_risk_b7 is a truly original concept map created by Supa. It is laid out as the board game Risk. Capture the continents and their flags and use the "armies" for cover. Read more about the game play
dod_[SAS]_inferno is a CSS port created by [SAS]Colster. As with dod_dust the frame rates are great. He has added 5 single man caps.
Both files will autodownload in bzip2 format but we highly recommend that you download [SAS]_Inferno (115MB) ahead of time from the new DODS Map Gallery Page.
Pvt.John has put together downloads for the custom maps that offer good gameplay with acceptable frame rates. Nice work John !

We are having a problem with the IP addresses associated with the Annex, Boneyard, and Shotgun Madness servers. The IP addresses are being blocked by the network provider for some reason.
Our provider, Ultimate Game Server, is working to get them released now. If they are not able to get them released fairly soon, they will provide us with some new IPs.
Either way, the servers should be back up again some time tonight. I will post here as soon as it is resolved one way or another.
UPDATE 6:12pm CST 12/12/05
All IPs back online. The problem was due to a Denial of Service (DoS) attack. UGS really jumped on this very quickly and got it dealt with in such a way we did not lose our IPs. Great, fast service from them so far.

Its a night map and its layout is reminiscent of cr44_b3. Its running on Futurama and will autodownload.

Furyo has released his much anticipated map, dod_dijon_rc1. Its a beauty.
This is my first map ever, and the project I learned all I know about mapping with.
As such I still need to learn many things I'm sure and will be looking forward to your feedback.
The map is based on the actual layout of a preserved historic district of Dijon, France. As such, you won't find a "destroyed" look but a cleaner town. No combats took place in this specific part of town, which was liberated by the French army and resistants in the first days of September 1944. - Furyo

In case anyone is interested, we have made some significant changes with the game server setups again.
We have set everything in the cfg files to the CAL recommended defaults, set the server maxfps cvar to 600, and the server tickrate to the optimal setting of 66 (for 18-man+ servers).
Alll servers are set the same, with the exception of Crossfire which has a max of 16 players and no snipers. All servers have been given high-CPU priority.
The changes were made last night. We play-tested and observed the server CPU usage with two of the servers completely full, and everything looked good.
We're going to leave it like this for a while and make further observations. Your input is welcome.

SunLit is hosting the private playtest of another new map, dod_sora_b2 on SunLit Crossfire 69.28.221.231:27015.
Dod_sora is the work of map author ultranew-b. He wants to make sure this map does not get distributed publicly. Ask an enforcer for the password if you are intersted in play testing.
Do not distribute or upload the map outside of SunLits.
The point of the playtest is to get input from players. Please post any observations, opinions (good or bad), or glitches here.
A bunch of us plan on showing up around 8pm EST tonight (Tue).

We've had to restart the servers a couple times this morning. We're making some changes to try to optimize the server performance further.
