It looks like the alliance between Section X and SunLit is finally official.
The clan leadership for Section X has just been made SunLit Enforcers. We've added them to the admin permissions list on the servers. The Section X leadership consists of Ghetto Fabulous, Kuma, Killektiv, and Damage.
Rosie and I would like to welcome everyone with Section X to the SunLit community.
Welcome aboard, gentlemen!

Rosie had posted this information in the forums recently, but I talked to a number of people who missed it, so I thought I'd post an article here.
It looks as if the long-awaited Day of Defeat:Source update is finally coming.
Fuzzdad -- who, if you're not familiar with him, has been involved with DOD development for years and is very close to the Valve DODS developers -- posted this on May 15th in the Steam Forums:
One thing to pass on to the leagues...this first update will not be the last. Valve will release code and features and will basically put out a version they want us to play for a week or so and provide continuous feedback and at the end of that week or two they'll patch it to a more "final" state. Look at this as a large-scale user acceptance test w/us having some say in the final product. I have no idea HOW much say...but those of you who can put a few cognitive and intelligent posts together in the feedback thread/forum might actually get some results.
BTW...still don't know "when" but I have to think this week or next...way too many things going on. Of course...I've seen this pattern before and POOF...a big update game change last-second add slows the process down. I do know that as Valve's been testing they devs hear this: "How about adding this or changing that?" and if it fits the big picture...POOF...game creep and push release to the right.
As Fuzzdad mentions, there is still the possibility it could get pushed back. However, I think cautious optimism is justified at this point.
Also, as our own Col. Krust pointed out in the same thread, we should not expect anything spectacular, just (some very much needed) bug fixes for the most part.
I know the Cone of Fire (i.e., "COF") fix by itself will make a massive difference. Perhaps we may even see some of our old friends come that pretty much stayed with 1.3 when most of the community transitioned to DODS come over to the dark side and play with the rest of us again. This is the one thing I hope the patch accomplishes. If it does nothing else, it will be a success in my book.

VentriloMIX version 1.1 is now available for download.
This lastest version of VentMIX allows users to switch between older version of Vent (we use version 2-1-4) and the latest version, which is 3-0-1.
Download it from our download section or directly from the SunLit Vent Help page.
If you have not yet tried out our Vent Server, see the Vent Help page for instructions and the software needed. If you don't currently have Ventrilo installed, it is very straight forward. Simply install the version of Vent we use, then click the "Connect Now" link in the SunVent block on the left hand side of our home page.

The SunLit MOTW server has an updated mapcycle and votemaplist today.
As a refresher, the mapcycle is the sequence of maps the server will switch through automatically in the absence of votes. This also determines which maps will show up in the automatic vote that pops up at the end of each round.
The votemap list determines which maps the admins have available to bring up for a vote, and which maps players can vote on using the "rock the vote" (rtv) feature.
The mapcycle on SunLit MOTW is composed mainly of maps in either CAL or SLDL, however there are a few of the standard maps in there as well to add variety and help draw players. The votemaplist includes all the mapcycle maps plus a few more of the standard maps, plus some maps that have been in CAL or SLDL in the past.
If you're a league player, this is the place to get in lots of practice on match maps!
The mapcycle and votemaplist can be found after the "Read More" link below.

The SunLit Futurama and SunLit Annex servers have been renamed to better reflect their character.
SunLit Futurama is now SunLit Super Custom. The role this server has played in recent years is that of the big custom map server. I think the name now reflects this a bit better. The SunLit Super Custom server now has in-game stats, pistols, and a mapcycle alternating between standard maps and customs. This server also has a list of about the top 50 custom maps from our library in the voting system. Players may vote a map from this list using the "rtv" (rock the vote) command, while admins may pull up any of these maps for a vote from the admin menu.
SunLit Annex is now SunLit MOTW CAL+SLDL (MOTW = "Map of the Week"). This server has been our place for practice on league maps, limited to fewer players and fewer plugins -- all designed to keep it CAL/SLDL standard (or as close as is practicable for a pub server). The new name is designed to make it clear to new players what this server is for. The mapcycle on this server will change as the leagues change their maps, and will generally be running the combined map lists for CAL and SLDL. We'll also be running the MOTW for an extended period before match time on Wed (CAL) and Sun (SLDL) evenings.
The mapcycle and list of maps available to be voted in for the Super Custom server can be found at the end of this article (click Read More to see them).

The 2nd Ranger Battalion -- formerly the 71st -- alliance with SunLit has all been finalized and we're going to give it a whirl. We discussed this in the forums, and I appreciate all the input we got from our regulars.
Their clan tag is "{2nd.RB.}", and their clan leaders are BG.Hoot {2nd.RB.} and SGM.George {2nd.RB.}. Please welcome them, and all the 2nd RB players, on the servers when you see them.
George and Hoot have also been made SunLit Enforcers and given admin access on the pub servers. I've also made them aware of how we generally go about enforcing here. I will add access to the SunLit Enforcers forum as well, as soon as they register on the site (hint :) ).

There have been requests to even up the number of instances of home and away for each team. So for this week the schedules are reversed to that posted on the Schedule page and will be.
Ill fix the web pages for the rest of the season accordingly when I get back.

Todd Chevalier, a player here going back to HLDM1 days as Isscabbibbles and later as Budclan Todd, is getting together a group of Call of Duty 4 players for a new SunLit-based clan. This new COD4 clan will make SunLit's COD4 server its home. They already have about ten players that are interested. They are recruiting, so if you play COD4 and you're a regular here, I encourage you to ask Todd about it in the COD4 forum section.
Todd is an avid COD4 player and has shown an interest in running the COD4 server, so we're letting him run with it. He'll be the one tweaking the configs, mapcycles, etc. He's already off to a good start. You'll find a new mapcycle with new gameplay modes on there now. Also, the max players have been brought down to an optimal level for COD4 of 20. There will be more interesting news about the server in the future as well.
Todd plans to be very responsive to the community -- new players and our existing SunLit regulars. So, make sure and post in the forum section above any suggestions or ideas you have for him.

We have seven new maps added to our extensive Day of Defeat Source map library today. These maps are all loaded on Futurama and ready to play.
Futurama is running a mapcycle with these maps exclusively for the next few days (although other maps can be voted in through the vote system).
Please click the map images below to see more information on each map -- including multiple pics of each map, a review, and a chance to download the map in advance so that you can avoid a wait in game.
Happy Fragging!

dod_coire_rc3
The version of dod_coire currently used for CAL.

dod_diversion_b3
An updated version of the fast and furious dod_diversion.

dod_pointe_b1
A new map. Beach map without too much beach. Check it out.

dod_riverbed_b2
A new map. Small, fast, and a weird cross between an orange map and dod_slope.

dod_santos_b2
The latest version of dod_santos (itself a remake of dod_cr44_b3). Minor fixes.

dod_sherman2_rc1
A completely new version of sherman aka newcastle. Fun map.

dod_strasbourg
Updated version of dod_strasbourg (a remake of dod_northbound). Fixes and gameplay changes.

Two minor bits of news.
First, the COD4 server now has the latest version of Punkbuster. Those of you having trouble getting in should now be ok.
Second, when you click on an individual server thumbnail in the Now Playing block on the right to see the list of players, the "Click to Join" but that appears under the map pic now works.

There's a lot of talk about Grippy's new map dod_flers_b2.
Five flags with three 2-man caps, its small and has the speed of an orange map but with Source textures. He is working on a b3 version so input now would be useful.
Playing on Annex and Futurama.

Albatross has departed from his themes of urban destruction and moved to the country.
Grafenstein is a small detonation map set in the countryside. The lighting, textures and soundscape are stunning. The teams each have 1 target, requiring 1 det pack. The allies tank can be approached from two sides and covered from a sniper tower. The axis flak is located on the roof of a building accessible by climbing four flights of narrow stairs or by climbing an exterior rope. Gameplay will be vicious
