Dod_highlander is neat and unique map. It is set in a hilly country setting. The map has lots of open areas, although there is also lots of cover from objects and the contour of the land.
The author has paid lots of attention to the basics, and gotten them right. There is good spawn protection, multiple spawn exits, and the map is balanced.
There are five flags, with a two-man cap at the center.
This map is a favorite on our pub server. It is beautiful to look at, and has solid gameplay.
The only drawback is that the framerates suffer when there are over 18-20 players on the server. Once there are over 20 players, you'll start to notice a considerable amount of choke. It's playable, up until about 24 players, in my opinion. It would not be good for a 32-man server.
The map is suitable for match play. |
