Description: |
an interesting idea gone horribly awry |
Review: |
I think I would file dod_dropzone_final under "Neat concept, but didn't work out."
The map is essentially a big field with a series of bunkers and other fortifications at one end. The axis spawn in the bunker and protect it from attack. There is a timer, and the allies have a limited amount of time to capture objectives in the bunker.
There are a couple of serious flaws in the execution of the map. First, it is very dark. I like dark, but this is so dark the player models are flat black. Too dark, in my humble opinion.
The other flaw comes out of what sounds like a neat idea: The allies spawn in a plane overhead and parachute down to the field. The problem is, the axis are in clear view of the allies falling from the sky in slow motion. Being an ally is often an excersise in frustration as you spawn in, jump out, get sniped on the way down, re-spawn, rinse, repeat.
The framerates are OK.
The map is not suitable for match play. |
